As part of our Social Corporate responsibility the First Assurance Team joined other Kenyans to support the ‘Beyond Zero’ campaign which seeks to raise funds to increase access to better healthcare through the provision of mobile clinics to less fortunate Kenyans. First Assurance shares the aspiration of The First Lady to ensure the lives of mothers and children are saved.

The Beyond Zero Campaign is H.E. Margaret Kenyatta’s initiative which started on March 9th 2014. It attracted over 30,000 runners, both young and old who contributed immensely, in cash and in kind, in its support. The initiative went all the way to the finish line of the most memorable charity race at the London Marathon on April 13, 2014.

In 2014, First Assurance joined hands with friends, relatives and development partners that enabled raising of enough money to purchase 20 mobile clinics. Seven of these clinics have already been handed over to the county governments of TaitaTaveta, Narok, Samburu, Homa Bay, Baringo, Isiolo and Wajir. These are some of the counties with the highest maternal and child mortality rates.

This year, First Assurancecontributed by providing a Public Liability Insurance Cover of Kshs. 11,000,000.00 and a cash donation of Kshs. 1,000,000.00 towards the initiative of purchasing 27 more clinics so that the dream of providing one mobile clinic to each of our beautiful country’s 47 counties becomes a reality. The Managing Director, Mr. Stephen Githiga, together with the Corporate Marathon Team presented the cash donation and policy document to the First Lady during the launch of The Beyond Zero Expo at KICC onFebruary28, 2015.

“We would like to associate ourselves with your noble goal of reducing women mortality to child birth related complications and early child mortality rates”, said Mr. Githiga when handing over the cheque. Our Managing director also congratulated the First lady for het initiative in this noble task and assured her of our support now and in the future.
