Electronic equipment

OVERVIEW

Electronic equipment covers the insured equipment  against any unforeseen, unintended and sudden physical loss or damage from any cause other than specifically excluded, in a manner necessitating repair or replacement.

The policy applies whether the insured items are at work or at rest, being dismantled for the purpose of cleaning, overhauling, being moved in and out of the premises in the course of operations and during any subsequent re-erection. The cover applies to the insured equipment only after successful commissioning

FEATURES

It comprises the following sections

Section I: MATERIAL DAMAGE

Damage caused by unforeseen and sudden physical loss or damage from any cause (other than those specifically excluded) in a manner necessitating repair or replacement.

Section II: EXTERNAL DATA MEDIA

Loss/Damage to external Data Media i.e. Tapes, Discs, magnetic drives etc as a result of peril in section one.

Section III: INCREASED COST OF WORKING (ICOW)

in the event of a breakdown, the required computing capacity is hired, then the increased cost of working insurance applies. It covers such expenses as hire charges, transport charges for data media and personnel, expenses for accommodation away from base, night work or work on public holidays and the like.

  • Fire, lightning, explosion, failing aircraft.
  • Burglary
  • Faulty operation, lack of skill, gross negligence
  • Failure of air conditioning
  • Design, manufacturing, assembly and erection faults, defects in casting and material, workshop errors, bad workmanship
  • Smoke, soot, corrosive gases
  • Water and humidity
  • Short circuit and other electrical causes
  • Malicious acts of workmen, employees, third parties
